Volkl V8 Pro Review

The Volkl V8 Pro is a great all around offering from Volkl. It combines a thick beam, high stiffness and 100 square inch head to deliver accessible power and forgiveness. At 305g unstrung , it is suited to intermediate to advanced players. With a relatively open 18x20 string pattern, the V8 Pro boast a much more consistent string bed than similar racquets, like the Babolat Pure Drive or Head Extreme Pro. This makes it an amazing option for intermediate players who need a racquet that merges forgiveness and consistency, or an advanced player who demands something with plenty of power and predictability.

I liked this racquet enough to make the switch away from my old Yonex SV 95’s. The extra forgiveness from the bigger head size and thicker beam made it much easier to transition from defense to offense. The 18x20 string pattern made sure I didn’t sacrifice too much control as I switched away from a control oriented player’s frame.
