Reece Carter Commits to Play in PAC12 for UA Wildcats

On November 10th in front of family, friends, and members of the Bear Mountain Tennis Club and Victoria tennis community, Victoria’s Reece Carter formally announced her commitment to play for the University of Arizona starting fall 2022.

Reece has been a well known name in the Canadian junior scene for a while now, and after a solid summer of ITF Tournament play, has risen to junior World #156.

Joe Wood, Director of Tennis at Bear Mountain said:

“Reece worked incredibly hard on and off the court during the lockdown to be ready for when things opened up again!

It was no surprise to me when she came out and got the results she did, and much of the climb from 600 in the world to 156 was down to her willingness to compete and never give up in tight matches.”

With the success Reece has achieved in her junior career and her obvious potential, the prospect of playing for a top tennis program at a U.S. University was a natural next step.

With offers from schools on the East and West coasts of the US, Reece liked the fact that Arizona is not as far from Vancouver Island (home) as some other places in the States.

Reece also said that:

“I chose UA because they are a Div 1 University rated A in both academics & athletics with a strong competitive team in the PAC 12 for both women’s and men’s tennis.

I can see myself fitting in with both the coaches and team in Tucson as they made my decision easy with how welcoming, eager to have me, and supportive they have been throughout my tournaments & training through this recruitment process.”

She will be on the Wildcats team starting fall 2022 and Arizona will be glad to have her strong forehand, athleticism, and competitive fight.
